As the season of giving and gratitude approaches, we’re reminded that the warmth of community can make even the coldest days feel a little brighter. At Aging Ahead, we have the privilege of witnessing how connection and support transform lives, especially in moments of deep need.
One participant, Glenn, shared his story in a voicemail thanking Aging Ahead for connecting him to online CHOICE programs and Meals on Wheels.
“Aging Ahead was here for me in one of the darkest times of my life, when I felt alone and overwhelmed. See, my wife of 62 years died 2 years ago. She was my everything. My pipeline to friends. Our doctor. How we got groceries. And of course–joy. After she passed, I was lost.
A neighbor connected me to you. Anyway, I wanted to thank Aging Ahead for helping me. I used to just sit in my house alone, and now I have a routine and people to talk to with, and don’t even have to leave my house! I’m not kidding when I say that you helped bring me back to life. Thank you for all that you do.”
Glenn’s story is a powerful reminder that our mission to support individuals through the journey of aging is not only impactful but essential, touching the lives of countless older adults in our community, and meeting them where they are on their aging journey.

Such a touching story. I met a lady during one of my senior activities. As we got to talking, she said she suffered from loneliness even though she has children and grandchildren. I had never heard anyone say that. It made me sad hearing that. I was happy that she attends some of the senior programs in our community.

I enjoy so much the members I meet and share with on the zoom break outs. I am a chatty one and find myself urging those who are silent to chime in. Our time goes by quickly as we share, visit and laugh.
